Originally
two fishing cottages, the carefully restored “La Caravelle”
evokes the character and traditions of the Basque country with
its’ revealed stone walls, oak and chessment beams; stairway
and wooden & ceramic floor.
Some room reflect a part of the Basque heritage: the sea, surf,
game of pelota and the famous peppers of Espelette…
Most of the rooms have double glazing, bath or shower with toilets,
television, telephone and hair-dryer. Depending on the theme
the flooring is either carpet or wood.
Between 8 and 11, there is a breakfast buffet in the dining
room with its lovely view over St Jean de Luz Bay.
Breakfast is a choice of seasonal, fresh fruit, fruit juices,
cereals, croissants and toast with a wide selection of jams
and honey, and two Basque specialities: country cheese –
brebis – and Mamia a milk yoghurt which is delicious.
There is an excellent choice of restaurants at the nearby port
of Socoa or in the picturesque streets of the Old Ciboure, the
nearest being 300 m away.
